If You Are utilizing The DAS Pass You’ll Want To Read This Before Your Trip
Disney has just announced changes to the Disability Access Service for Walt Disney World starting May 20th. Disney has stated that “DAS is intended to accommodate a small percentage of Guests who, due to a developmental disability like autism or similar, are unable to wait in a conventional queue for an extended period of time.”
Additionally, in-person registration will no longer be available after May 19th. All guest will be able to speak with a Cast Member up 30 days in advance of their trip during a pre-arrival conversation. This conversation will help to determine if and what services may help the guest enjoy their visit.
The DAS enrollment window to renew has been extended to 120 days from the existing 60 day window.
Disney will also be adding more Cast Members in their parks who are specially trained to assist guests. They will also be adding things such as a more defined process for guests who need to exit the queue and re-enter.
Disney has partnered with the Inspire Health Alliance. These are trained medical professionals that will help Cast Members to determine guest eligibility and ensure appropriate accommodations are provided to the intended guest so that misuse will not occur.
Additionally, the party size for DAS will now only include immediate family or a limit of 4 people. And DAS users will no longer be able to pre-select two rides. This option will only be used on an “as needed” basis if it will best accommodate the guest.
Walt Disney World has not fully updated their website with all these details yet but you can find the most up-to-date information here.
