See how Disney Imagineers are bringing the International Flower & Garden Displays to a new level!
The garden topiaries are in full bloom around EPCOT for celebrating the International Flower & Garden Festival. The Disney Imagineers are spouting up new ideas with the Walt Disney World Horticulture team for immersing technology into some of this year's works of garden art.
EPCOT guests are welcomed to the festival by Asha, Valentine and Star from Disney's newest animated feature, "Wish". To bring a glow to this topiary trio, lighting effects were hand placed to create a visual for Star’s celestial dust. Asha's hair was hand woven to create lifelike braids for her character. This technique provides her hair with texture and movement to create a more lifelike feel to the topiary.
While Groot may be a character of few words, his topiary is all talk at EPCOT. For the first time at the festival, a musical element has been incorporated into a topiary. Inspired by the Disney short, "I Am Groot", the Flower & Garden Groot is proudly displaying his latest mix tape, "Green House Mix Vol. 1". Guest can enjoy Groot's soundtrack playing as they take in this topiary, rooted near the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind experience.
The Disney Team did not stop there, travel to Mexico to view the first-ever topiary with enhanced special projection effects. The bright and beautiful colors from Pixar's "Coco" are coming to life with Miguel and Dante. As the sun sets on EPCOT, guest will see hints of solar-charged paint starting to glow around Dante's topiary. His alebrije form will continue to be enhanced as projection-mapping technology enhances this glow as the park transitions from day to night.
