Disney Parks Blog just dropped some exciting info about upcoming changes and updates to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at the Magic Kingdom. You’ll be greeted by a new robot named Buddy which was created in collaboration with Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar Animation Studios.

As part of the Star Command team, guests will be briefed about their mission on Space Ranger Spin and be able to take practice on new interactive targets before attempting to defeat Evil Emperor Zurg.

Ride vehicles will also be getting updated too. New video monitors will be installed to provide real-time scoring and other fun features. Imagineers didn’t forget about those sometimes tough to use blasters either. The blasters have gotten a redesign allowing for Star Command guests to better hold the blaster itself. And to make sure that you can hit your targets they will come with an always-on laser. Fear not! The lasers will come in two different colors, so you know which laser is yours. Vibrations and sound will also help you to reach Galactic Hero status!

Finally, the targets themselves will be upgraded too. They’ll now light up and react when hit so you know you’d hit your mark.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will temporarily close this August and reopen sometime in 2026.

We’re loving all these new updates coming to the ride. Which is your favorite?
