Spots For The 2025 Walt Disney World Marathon Sold Out Fast!
The virtual queue for any runDisney race can be nerve-wracking for any runner, and the wait for the 2025 Marathon was no different! On April 9th, the general public was able register for Marathon Weekend. In less than an hour, the Goofy Challenge was sold out, followed shortly by the 5k, 10k and Dopey Challenge. The half and full marathon were the last items to sell out, approximately two hours after registration opened.
Looking to travel to Walt Disney World in January? Be mindful that runners from around the world will flock to the parks January 8th – 12th for this year’s Marathon Weekend. Four races will take place throughout the parks and runners can challenge themselves one of two challenges. Runners could sign up for the Goofy Challenge and will look to complete the half and full marathon. Those feeling extra ambitious signed up for the Dopey Challenge and will attempt to complete all 4 races.
Since you cannot purchase a lightning lane pass for race registration, what are the tips and tricks for getting into the races? The only way to guarantee a spot for a runDisney race is to sign up for Club runDisney. Depending on the level purchased, you can guarantee a spot for each race series throughout the year. Runners not able to secure a spot through runDisney can also look at the charity race option. There are several charities, including the American Cancer Society, Michael J. Fox Foundation, and the World Wildlife Fund, that will have race bibs available for those that want to run and support them.
