A Rare Addax Calf Has Been Born Just In Time for Mother's Day
Two month old Julien is simply adorable, and is the newest member of the Addax herd that calls Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge home. Julien's arrival is extra special as there are less than 100 Addax left in the wild and only 180 in all organisations accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
Addax are a type of antelope native to the Sahara Desert. They are known for their curly horns which the calves are actually born with! At the moment, Julien has very small horns and is a cute two feet tall! When grown those horns can reach up to 80cm and he could be 115cm at the shoulder.
So, it's a massive congratulations to Mum, Juniper, and Dad, Allen, as well as all the team of keepers and veterinarians of Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Have you seen baby Julien yet?
