Hurricane Milton - Disney & Airport Operational Updates - Wednesday October 9th

As of writing this at 9am EST Hurricane Milton is projected to hit the Central Florida area on Wednesday evening as a category 1 hurricane (possibility of changes may occur closer to time of landfall).

 

Airport Closures

 Tampa International Airport (TPA): Closed until after the hurricane and damage has been assessed.

St. Pete/Clearwater Airport (PIE): Closed, will reopen Thursday.  

Orlando International Airport (MCO): Closed. Only open to emergency and relief flights.

 

 

Walt Disney World Closures:


Update 6:20pm: Parks will remain closed Thursday Oct 10th. For guests with partially used multi-day tickets, Walt Disney World is making accommodations by extending the ticket expiration dates. These tickets will now expire on October 11, 2025.


  • Closing at 1pm today: Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom

  • Closing at 2pm today: EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, and Disney Springs

  • Closed today: Typhoon Lagoon, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf

 

  • Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is cancelled on Oct. 10. Tickets will be refunded.

 

 

  • Walt Disney World Transportation ceasing operating Wednesday, Oct. 9 after parks and Disney Springs close.

 

  • Limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World Resort Guests.

 

  • Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground (including dining and recreation locations), the Copper Creek Cabins at Wilderness Lodge, and the Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11:00 AM. Treehouses at Saratoga & Cabins at Fort Wilderness will reopen Sunday Oct. 13th. Cabins at Wilderness lodge will reopen Friday Oct. 11th.

 

 

Walt Disney World Cancellation Polices:

 

  • Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Tuesday, 10/8 – Monday, 10/14


  • DVC are currently allowing owners to cancel or reschedule their hotel stay this week with no penalty including adjustments to the banking and borrowing status of those points.


  • Disney will not enforce cancellation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences. Those with pre-paid bookable experiences will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days.
