Disney Legend & Songwriter Richard M. Sherman Has Passed Away

It Is With Heavy Heart We Bring You This News

Richard M. Sherman passed away at Cesar’s-Sinai hospital in Beverly Hills at the age of 95. He was one half of the famous Sherman Brothers who brought music and lyrics to life for the Walt Disney Company.

The brothers were famously known for their work on Mary Poppins, garnering them two Oscars; and winning Walt Disney’s heart with the song ‘Feed the Birds’. They also lent their musical talent to many other Disney movies and theme park rides over the years.

We think Bob Iger, Walt Disney Company CEO, put it best when saying, “Richard Sherman was the embodiment of what it means to be a Disney Legend, creating along with his brother Robert the beloved classics that have become a cherished part of the soundtrack of our lives. From films like Mary Poppins and The Jungle Book to attractions like ‘it’s a small world,’ the music of the Sherman Brothers has captured the hearts of generations of audiences. We are forever grateful for the mark Richard left on the world, and we extend our deepest condolences to his family.”
