Disney & Airport Operational Updates - Hurricane Milton - Monday October 7th

As of writing this at 12:36pm EST Hurricane Milton is projected to hit the Central Florida area on Wednesday as a possible category 3 hurricane (possibility of changes may occur closer to time of landfall).


Update 7:21pm: As of 5pm the National Weather Service has declared a Hurricane Warning for Orange and Osceola counties where Walt Disney World is located.




 

Airport Closures

Tampa International Airport (TPA): Will suspend all commercial and cargo operations beginning at 9am Tuesday and will remain closed to the public until they can assess any damage after the storm.

St. Pete/Clearwater Airport (PIE): Will close at 12:30pm on Tuesday and remain closed through Thursday.

Orlando International Airport (MCO) Updated 1:25pm: Commercial and private flight operations to cease on Wednesday morning at 8am.

 

Walt Disney World Weather Update

As of 9am Monday Walt Disney World is monitoring Hurricane Milton. Currently parks are

operating as normal.


Oct 7th 6:37pm: Please see information below. Disney will temporarily close starting 11am on Wednesday. See details below: 


  • Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground (including dining and recreation locations), the Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, Oct. 9.

  • Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are likely to remain closed until Sunday, Oct. 13.

  • The Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will likely reopen on Friday, Oct. 11.

 

Walt Disney World Resort Hotels Cancellation Policy

Cancellation fees for guests with check-in dates of October 6th through October 12th will be waived due to weather. If you are not calling to cancel or change your reservation, please hold off until after the storm has passed so that Disney may assist those affected by Milton.


Update: 10/8 1:08p: Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Tuesday, 10/8 – Monday, 10/14


Disney Vacation Club members are currently allowing owners to cancel or reschedule their hotel stay this week with no penalty including adjustments to the banking and borrowing status of those points.
