MODIFICATIONS TO MAGIC KINGDOM SHOWS DURING CASTLE REPAINTING

It has been reported that a few of the shows in Magic Kingdom that revolve around or utilize Cinderella’s Castle have been modified while the castle repainting is going on. Disney announced in summer of 2025 that Cinderella’s Castle would be returning to its classic blue and grey color scheme and saying goodbye to the pink and gold hues from the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World.

Painting of the castle officially began on January 28th, with an estimated finish time of later in 2026. Many people have expressed concerns in regards to the castle and potential cranes being in their trip photos. As of now, three different castle shows have been modified to accommodate the painting. Let the Magic Began, the welcome show for Magic Kingdom, is no longer having characters or fireworks just music at the park opening. Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire performance times have been moved to only afternoon show times starting at 1:00pm and the last show at 5:15pm. Happily Ever After, Magic Kingdom’s beloved nighttime firework show, is no longer utilizing lasers during it’s show run. We will be sure to keep up with any changes throughout the year as the painting goes on and report back to you all!

EXCLUSIVE DVC MEET & GREET EVENTS FOR VALENTINE'S DAY

Take advantage of this great opportunity to show some love to favorite characters this February! Eligible DVC Members have four opportunities to meet and greet with Disney’s classic couples this Valentine’s season. While it has not been announced who will be appearing at this special event, Mickey and Minnie as well as Horace and Clarabelle have met at similar events in the past.

The official name for the event is Valentine’s Day Meet & Treat and will be hosted inside the Convention Center at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney Vacation Club Members that are eligible for the event must have a qualifying reservation booked within their eligible membership on the same day as the event.

Runners on your marks!

The Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend is just around the corner and things just got a lot more exciting in the run up to the events. The weekend will see participants take on the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or the Fairytale Challenge. The event guide is now live on the website and the most exciting bit is the courses have been officially released.

The 5K Course starts in the usual EPCOT parking lot and will see runners head into the park, around World Showcase, around Spaceship Earth and back to the parking lot.

The 10K course starts in the EPCOT parking lot and will see runners enter the park, go around World Showcase before heading to the Boardwalk, before going back into the park, around Spaceship Earth and back to the parking lot.

The Half Marathon course, the longest distance of the weekend. Runners start in the EPCOT parking lot and head out onto the highways towards Magic Kingdom. Runners will go through Magic Kingdom, including the Castle, before heading along the highways back to EPCOT. There is no World Showcase in this race. The Half Marathon will finish in the EPCOT parking lot.

The next Walt Disney World runDisney event is almost here! The Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend will take place between February 26th and March 2nd 2026. Participants will take place in a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon or even the challenge!

The first part of the weekend takes place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, as the Health and Fitness Expo. This is the perfect space for participants to get their hands on some fantastic race themed merch!

There will be lots of different items available, so there will be something for everyone. As usual, there will be different 'finisher' t shirts available for each race distance so that runners can show off their accomplishments!

Other items will include mugs, magnets, jackets, tank tops and many, many more!

If you have a particular item in mind, be sure to get your spot at the expo on the first day using the virtual queue as some items are likely to sell out quickly.

We can't wait to see these items in person as the previews make them look fantastic!

Starting on February 19th, you can start making your Tea Experience reservation. Get ready to dive down the rabbit hole with an Alice in Wonderland themed experience filled with whimsical drinks and delicate finger foods.

With the menu, you'll be curiouser and curiouser with all the new finds. For your perfect teatime experience, you'll start with the Orange-Cranberry Scone paired with traditional assortments to savor. You'll then dive into your beautifully crafted tea tower of treats! On your tea tower, enjoy:

The long wait is over, the Garden View Lounge - Tea Experience is reopening at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa on March 19th. Starting on February 19th, you can start making your Tea Experience reservation. Get ready to dive down the rabbit hole with an Alice in Wonderland themed experience filled with whimsical drinks and delicate finger foods.

With the menu, you'll be curiouser and curiouser with all the new finds. For your perfect teatime experience, you'll start with the Orange-Cranberry Scone paired with traditional assortments to savor. You'll then dive into your beautifully crafted tea tower of treats! On your tea tower, enjoy:

❤ Curried Chicken Salad Playing Card Tart
❤ Flamingo Croquet Choux
❤ Footman's Feast

The curtain is up on a new exhibit at the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. "Once Upon a Stage: The Magic of Disney on Broadway" is taking center stage at CommuniCore Hall for the duration of the the Festival. Authentic costumes, set designs, and props offer guests on the opportunity to get up close the beauty from the Broadway stage.

There is a color version of the print available that will also be signed by Gideon's Bakehouse art director, Michael Reyes. Sales start at 10AM EST on the Gideon's website and orders are open through Monday 19th at 10AM EST. There is a limit of 2 per household. Note this is an open release print so once the orders close on Monday, that's how many will be done.

The runDisney races that take place at Walt Disney World are a popular way of seeing a different side of the parks, including magical miles of character stops, photos and making new friends. The races allow participants to register for distances form a 5K all the way through to a full marathon.

The 5K races are arguably some of the most fun races to participate in, with no timing and lots of character stops, they are inclusive races and as such, usually sell out the fastest. Well, runDisney has listened and for the next running year, starting with the 2026 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend, more 5K registrations will be available!

Tortuga Tavern has seen many different uses over the last few years, but nothing that has held solidly in the space since before 2024. 🏴‍☠️ Tortuga Tavern is mostly known as a quick service restaurant in Adventureland across from Pirates of the Caribbean, that would occasionally serve specialty items in addition to their menu. 🌮🍹 Tortuga Tavern has not operated regularly for food since prior to 2024. 🚫🍔 The area was briefly used for merchandise as the Tortuga Treasures gift shop when the Pirates of the Caribbean gift shop was under renovations. 🏴‍☠️⚔️

Tortuga Tavern has seen many different uses over the last few years, but nothing that has held solidly in the space since before 2024. 🏴‍☠️ Tortuga Tavern is mostly known as a quick service restaurant in Adventureland across from Pirates of the Caribbean, that would occasionally serve specialty items in addition to their menu. 🌮🍹 Tortuga Tavern has not operated regularly for food since prior to 2024. 🚫🍔 The area was briefly used for merchandise as the Tortuga Treasures gift shop when the Pirates of the Caribbean gift shop was under renovations. 🏴‍☠️⚔️

While the restaurant does still show on the Walt Disney World Resort website and the My Disney Experience app, it has been reported that it is no longer listed on the paper park maps that you can pick up in the parks. 🗺️📍 Tortuga Tavern does show “closed” when you search for the location on the app or the website, but Disney has not made any official announcements on permanent closures. 📢❌

If you're staying at Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney's Pop Century Resort, or Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort for Cool Kids' Summer, expect an increase in character experiences and added summer amenities during your stay. This will include scheduled visits from loved Disney characters and Mickey's pals. Hopefully, more details will unfold as summer approaches.

Looking to get your dance party on? Goofy will be getting the fun started at CommniCore Hall in EPCOT all summer long! Dance along to the Goof Troop, DJ Dance Parties, and Goofy during fun and wacky activities at CommuniCore Hall.

Starting this summer, Bluey and Bingo will be waiting for guests at Conservation Station. Take Animal Kingdom's Wildlife Express Train to the outpost and meet and greet with Bluey, Bingo and animals from their home country, Australia.

As part of the 2026 Cool Kids' Summer, both Walt Disney World water parks will be open!

Starting on May 26th, both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach water parks will be open! Instead of park hopping, you can make a splash at both fun-in-the-sun locations! This simultaneous waterpark operation will continue through September 8th, 2026. As part of the 2026 Cool Kids' Summer activities, there is even more to enjoy!

From May 26th through September 8th, those staying at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel can continue to enjoy free admission to either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach on their check-in day.

Disney's Blizzard Beach water park is currently closed for its regularly scheduled maintenance. It will reopen February 15th. It is expected the Disney's Typhoon Lagoon will close on the 15th for refurbishment to get ready for the summer fun.

Get your crew ready to takeoff on the Millennium Falcon with The Mandalorian and Grogu. Beginning May 22nd, Smugglers Run will have the two new additions leading you on a new mission to track down former Imperial officers that are scattered throughout the galaxy. With the crew update, pilots will have the opportunity to change which planets the ship visits, so new and familiar locations are up for exploration.

The Smugglers Run updates are part of the summer updates coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios. The revamped Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets is also scheduled to roll into the parks during the summer.

Runners it's time to get planning and decide how many magic miles you will take on in the upcoming race year

The runDisney race year has only just begun with the WDW Marathon Weekend the next event, but runDisney has already got us planning as they released the running calendar for the 2026 through 2027 season.

Walt Disney World Resort will host four in person race weekends and there will also be three virtual running series throughout the year as well.

The first weekend to kick off the running year is the 2026 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend which will take place between October 22nd and October 25th 2026. Club runDisney registration will take place on February 3rd 2026 with general registration opening up a week later on February 10th.

The race after will be the 2027 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend which will take place between January 6th and January 10th, 2027. Registration for the event opens for Club runDisney on March 10th, 2026 followed by general registration on March 17th.

The 2027 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend will take place between February 25th and March 1st 2027. Club runDisney registration will open for the event on May 26th 2026 and general registration on June 2nd.

Finally the 2027 runDisney Springtime Surprise will take place between April 15th and April 18th 2027. Club runDisney registration will open on June 30th 2026 and general registration on July 7th.

runDisney will also have three virtual running series throughout the year! The first will be 2026 runDisney Virtual Series that will take place between June 1st and August 31st.

Next is the 2026 runDisney Virtual Spooktacular, taking place between October 1st and 31st, 2026. After the Halloween race will be the 2026 runDisney Virtual 12Ks of Christmas! This virtual race will take place between December 1st and 31st, 2026.

Please note that the Club runDisney registration dates are for Gold and Platinum Members only and the Virtual Series are only open to US addresses.

Themes have yet to be released but we will keep you updated as soon as they are!

The shop has added a seasonal popcorn mix to their popcorn lineup that's perfect for cupid. The Sweetheart Popcorn Mix has a base of strawberry flavored candied popcorn that is drizzled with milk and white chocolate. It's topped with crushed chocolate cookies, mini marshmallows and Valentine's M&Ms.

Along with the Valentine's Day Popcorn return, Valentine's Day themed rice crispy treats and apples were spotted on display.
